The Best Day Trip from Taree You Haven't Tried Yet
If you're in Taree and looking for something genuinely different — not another winery, not another lookout — Bulahdelah Clydesdales is your answer. Just a straightforward 45-minute drive north along the Pacific Highway, our working farm offers a hands-on, two-hour Clydesdale horse experience unlike anything else in the Manning Valley region.
We've been doing this for over 30 years. These aren't novelty rides or tourist-park horses. Dusty May, Hercules, Jax and Murphy are working Clydesdales — and during your session, you'll see them work, handle the heritage harness, and get right in among them for photos and feeding.
Head north on the Pacific Highway — it's one of the most scenic stretches in the region. Stop in Bulahdelah town first: grab a coffee, visit the Tourist Information Centre, or pick up a famous pie from Bulahdelah Bakery before heading out to the farm. Easy parking, easy access.
What Happens During Your Session
Sessions run for two hours starting at 10am, and accommodate up to 50 people at a time — ideal for family groups, retirement village outings, club trips, or any group looking for a memorable day out from Taree.
-
1Arrival & Meet the Horses Get introduced to Dusty May, Hercules, Jax and Murphy — each with their own personality and history.
-
2Live Working Demonstration Watch the Clydesdales in action — doing what they were bred to do. This is a real working farm, not a display yard.
-
3Heavy Horse Harness Display Handle and examine authentic leather collar, hames and traces — heritage equipment with real history behind it.
-
4Meet, Feed & Photograph Get close, feed by hand, and take all the photos you want. This is the part everyone remembers.
-
5Questions & Open Interaction Ask anything — about the horses, the history of Clydesdales in Australia, or farm life. We love talking about it.
Accessibility & Facilities
We've made sure that anyone who wants to come can come. The property has undercover seating, is fully wheelchair accessible, and accommodates walker frames without any fuss. A portable toilet is on site. If you have specific accessibility needs, call us ahead of your visit and we'll make sure everything is ready.
Hercules — one of the farm's working Clydesdales, and a crowd favourite every session.
Planning Your Day Trip from Taree
The session runs 10am–12pm, giving you the whole afternoon free to explore. After the farm, head back through Bulahdelah for lunch at the bakery or one of the local cafes, then take the scenic Myall Lakes route home via Tea Gardens for a relaxed afternoon drive. It makes for a genuinely full and satisfying day out.
Group bookings are for adults 18 and over. The experience is best suited to adult groups — community clubs, retirement villages, corporate teams, tourism groups, and family parties. For group rates (10 or more), call us directly or use the enquiry form below.
